Since our move to California, we have cut our living space in half and quadrupled the number of kids’ toys in our possession. With zero outside space, we've had to get creative with incorporating kid-friendly spaces into our home without looking like a daycare. The little man loves this one corner of the family room behind the sofas where all the electrical cords run. I spent months trying to convince him not go to back there. A couple weeks ago, I came up with a different solution. A few blankets, his my-size chair, and a bunch of toys were all it took to transform the unused, slightly unsafe space into a kids-only retreat. Now I’ll find him back there reading, playing with his cars, or just chilling. The other day he was feeding "Bear" and putting him down for a nap. This was definitely one of my better ideas, if I do say so myself. It also reminded me to look at the world through the eyes of someone else; you just might discover a solution that is infinitely more fantastic than the status quo.
